About
Welcome to Mazz Hobbies, where I'm Dave, and this is my journey through the world of hobbies.
Growing up in the South Wales Valleys amid declining industries, my fascination with hobbies began with Airfix models. It blossomed when I received a Heroquest boxed set one Christmas, sparking endless weekends of adventure with friends. We delved into Space Hulk, lost in battles between heavily armoured space marines and ravenous genesteelers.
Venturing into my first Games Workshop store elevated my love for the game, leading to epic battles with armies of dwarves and elves. Despite our teenage years ushering in new hobbies, our passion for gaming endured. As Blood Bowl and Necromunda emerged, we eagerly embraced them, working extra shifts to fund our obsession.
Life eventually led us in separate directions, university and new hobbies taking precedence. For two decades, the hobby faded into memory as I built a career and started a family.
But a chance encounter in an Australian Games Workshop store reignited the flame, bringing back the joy of gaming and newfound friendships. Rekindling my passion, I spent hours building and painting my Warhammer Fantasy Battle Dwarf army, until the Old World's destruction brought disappointment and a vow never to be heartbroken again.
Moving beyond this setback, I explored new games and techniques, embracing a variety of systems and honing skills like airbrushing and 3D printing. Now, deeply immersed in the hobby, I share it with my teenage children, fostering connections over shared interests.
As I continue my hobby journey, I aim to guide you through yours. Whether it's navigating various game systems, providing paint guides, or helping overcome obstacles, let's embark on this journey together.
